Warburtons Banana Breakfast Special

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, as it sets you on the right course to a healthy balanced diet and provides you with a great energy boost for the day ahead. Bread contains many of the nutrients needed for a healthy family diet. White bread is an important source of calcium, perfect for kids who need plenty of it for growing bones, whilst brown and wholegrain loaves are a fantastic source of fibre.

Packed full of fruit, this is quick and easy to make and the perfect healthy morning treat for the family.

Ingredients

4 slices Warburtons Soft White Farmhouse, crusts removed
2 tbsp apricot jam
1 egg, beaten
4 tbsp milk
25g (1oz) butter
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 large banana, sliced
100g (4oz) frozen raspberries, thawed
Runny low sugar honey or golden syrup, for drizzling

Recipe

1. Spread two slices of Warburtons Farmhouse with apricot jam, then sandwich them together with the remaining slices. Cut in half diagonally to give 4 large triangles.
2. Beat the egg and milk together in a shallow bowl.
3. Heat the butter and oil in a large non-stick frying pan until hot. Dip each triangle briefly in the egg mixture to cover both sides and then cook in the frying pan until set and golden brown, turning once. Lift onto warmed plates.
4. Add the banana to the frying pan and cook for about 1 minute. Spoon onto the triangles with the raspberries. Serve, drizzled with honey or golden syrup.

Top tip: For less hearty appetites, cut the sandwiches into smaller triangles and serve 4 instead.
