PAUL HARTLEY - A MAN PASSIONATE ABOUT BREAKFAST AND BRUNCH
Paul Hartley has worked in the catering industry for over 10 years, running everything from European style café bars in London to a country inn near Bath where he won a Les Routiers Hospitality Award. Paul saw that there was an opportunity to invigorate our lives by focusing on breakfast, the one meal of the day that is overlooked by many (except nutritionists) and forms an essential early morning fuel stop for all of us. He saw an opportunity and has the ability to evoke interest from everybody when he demonstrates just how breakfast and brunch can be a quick, easy, nutritious and energy packed meal that is fun and exciting. The proof is reflected in the research that has been carried out demonstrating that people of all ages who eat breakfast have better concentration, better memory retention, bags more energy and are less likely to suffer from stress and depression.
When Paul, and Lynda his wife, moved to Bath they started their now legendry breakfasts culminating in weekend jazz breakfast and brunch, which was always fully supported by guests both near and far. Recipes were collected from around the world and reference made to chefs and breakfast aficionados, nutritionists, dieticians, psychologists and life-style designers. Now Paul has become passionate about breakfast and during recent filming with the BBC he was christened "The Breakfast Evangelist".
Paul is a major contributor to www.breakfastandbrunch.com and travels the UK to talk on both local BBC and commercial radio stations on his favourite topic as well as having a weekly slot on BBC Somerset Sound and BBC Radio Wiltshire. He also contributes regularly to Hot FM in Spain, a station dedicated to the ex-pats. Paul has written the Marmite Cook Book, which has become a best seller, the Colman’s English Mustard Cookbook, the Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce Cookbook. He is now writing the Heinz Tomato Ketchup Cookbook also to be published by Absolute Press and there are other major iconic food cookbooks on the way.
Paul works with many companies associated with breakfast such as Kellogg’s, Marmite, Lea & Perrins, Colman’s, Bensons Fruit Juices and Morphy Richards and has a keen interest in locally sourced ingredients and organic food production, always determined to use the very best ingredients. His repertoire of breakfast and brunch dishes seems endless and he is aware of the time-line, which accompanies weekday breakfast to the necessity to develop 'Deskfasts' and maintain the huge enjoyment and fun that is had from weekend breakfast and brunch indulgence.
