Breakfast and Brunch in Portugal - an overview

Pequeno-almoco Breakfast in Portugal fall into two categories - one on the run for work and the other more leisurely one generally eaten at weekends. The rushed version might be milk, yoghurt or coffee and bread with butter and cheese or jam. At weekends there would also be orange juice, croissants, pastries and cereal. The Portuguese are very fond of Bica - a strong coffee which they will have with cakes, bread and cheese and even salted cakes made of ground meat or fish called croquete or rissol.
