Breakfast and Brunch in Hong Kong - an overview

Due to long periods of British rule and a big influx of refugees from the provinces after the Civil War, localised interpretations of English and Eastern Chinese breakfast fare is commonly found alongside the Cantonese breakfast.
In Hong Kong a cha chaan teng breakfast would usually consist of tea, coffee or yin-yeung served with bread, ham and fried eggs together with a bowl of macaroni soup with ham.

Have you had breakfast here? - then tell us about it..

Actually Im from hong kong and I have had the breakfast there. It is really
awesome and tasty. We have sometimes congee soup for breakfast which came
from the Chinese tradition. We also have bread sometimes which is from the
British. Its a really amazing experience having breakfast there. Sangita. Nov 08

Most Hong Kong people would go out to "yum cha" (which means "drink tea") in the dim sum restaurant in the morning, it has all varieties of Cantonese dishes, like steamed dumplings, deep fried/baked snacks, fried noodles, congee, etc. It is a habit that HK people go to "yum cha" in the mornings, as it is cheap and convenient.
